Since July of 55 Thats As Close As I've Been
An Electromotive GP9 built in July of 1955 waddles at IOmph down the KCS on its way back to Columbus. I bet even when it was built EMD had no idea that it would be around over 5O years later, having done all and more that was ever asked of it. The 7o2 is however not a hit with crews. Have you met a 53 year old that wasn't cranky? The 7o2 is ex Southern Railway (CNO&TP) 6246 that was later rebuilt with dynamic brakes. The ex SOU GP9 came to the C&G in 1983.
